Are you a teacher or librarian in a K-8 school? We pledged to give a copy of Magic The Crest, written by a fourth grade student, to 100 schools and libraries. Kids are excited when they see that kids can write books, too! If you would like a copy for your class or school, please fill out the form below. Teachers have read the book to classes as young as second grade, and students love reading a book written by a student.
The 128-page, seven-chapter book is a fast-paced adventure in the vein of Percy Jackson books, and features five, ten-year-old intrepid girls. The first pages are previewed on the book's Amazon page. |
How Magic The Crest came to be:
Rena came home from school one day last October with the assignment to finish a story. Her plan was to turn it into novel that opens with a game she liked to play at recess with her friends. Rena signed up for NaNoWriMo’s Young Writers Program, and on November 1, set her word-count goal to 20,000. Thirty days later, she finished the story.
NaNoWriMo's Young Writers Program takes place every November. It is used in classrooms across the country, or kids can participate on their own (like Rena did), and set any word count goal they like.
